🎉 RUNONART turns 6 🎉
Six years of RUNONART — where art lives as expression, action, care, and change.
This year feels deeply important. WOMANIFESTO films gave birth to ACTSAFE, a project against gender-based violence, affirming that art can become a safe space and a force for social transformation. The work also traveled internationally as a finalist at the Miraban UK Film Awards for the Experimental Short Film Award.
BETWEEN WATER AND ROOF: STORIES OF BLACK short experimental film, was completed, carrying the light that rises from the unknown — a place that may seem distant or frightening, yet reveals itself as a trusted guide forward.
At the same time, short film IDENTITY IN BETWEEN continues to inspire at the Museum of Contemporary Art-Crete, opening conversations around identity, transition, and belonging.
This year also marks our deepening commitment to sustainability and creative resilience through CoRES — a European collaboration with AKTI and Studio18 that began with Pame Amargeti: A Culture and Sustainability Lab in Cyprus and continues into Greece and Malta. Through participatory research, workshops and shared creative practices, CoRES seeks to connect culture and environmental care, building tools and networks for a more resilient cultural sector.
Together, these works form concentric circles of hope and gradual but meaningful change.
I’m deeply grateful to everyone who walks this path with us — artists, collaborators, organisations, and friends.
We continue with care, courage, and faith!
With love,
Efi Spyrou

“Between Water and Roof: Stories of Black” is an experimental documentary that explores consciousness, fear, and transformation. It explores the possibility of reconciliation with the Other through a dialogue between light and darkness. Water—a symbol of fluidity—and the roof—a boundary and a refuge—act as metaphors for the limits and transitions of consciousness. Structured in three thematic spirals - darkness, conflict and reconciliation - the film invites the viewer on an existential journey. Through the power of image, sound and movement, it creates a sensory experience that bridges philosophy and art. A cinematic journey through the nuances of the human condition, between certainty and uncertainty.
Attempting to highlight the feminine artistic voice of today we invited female creators to write and present their own manifesto, giving them the space to raise their voices for one minute and shine their own light in answer to the challenges of our times. Stepping away from the mainstream interpretation of current affairs, the first film-manifesto enables women from a wide age range and various nationalities to express their artistic voice, manifesting their passion for the present and galvanizing the dialogue between women and the arts.
Attempting to delve into the multiple terms (social, cultural, psychological) on the basis of which identities are formed, the project IDENTITY IN BETWEEN is organized by RUNONART, inviting five women artists to create new performance projects and to share their artistic expression and ideas on the notion of the multiple prisms of one’s being.

The spotlight is set on ten Greek Cypriot artists who become the protagonists in a series of interviews.
Which is their source of inspiration? How does an artist work in his/her studio? What are they searching for? What are the means and materials they use?
The answers to all these questions are passed on to the viewers in a very simple and yet direct way and their stories are not far from our own experiences.
